Savannah's 4 month check up

Today Savannah had her 4 month check up. I had all these expectations, because she seems to have grown so much I thought for sure she would be several inches longer than her 2 month check up and I definitely know her weight had increased. Well, here is how it went.......................
She is 23 inches long (she has only grown an inch in 2 months!) That put her in the 10th percentile for height. Our little girl is going to take after mommy and be petite. Moving on, she gained a lot! She now weighs, 14 lbs, 1 oz! At her 2 month she was 9lbs 7.6oz. That put her in the 50th percentile for weight. Not bad, although the doctor did call her chubby. That lowered my hopes of starting her on some rice cereal. The doctor stated that giving rice cereal to a baby at 4 months is not imperative. There is no real nutritional value in giving her rice cereal (it is mostly carbs and some protein but not a lot) and since she seems to be healthy that we should hold off on the rice cereal for awhile. I was a little disappointed, mainly because I was looking forward to that milestone. She does eat well, especially when we give her a bottle, so until either the doctor says so or she gives us any indication she needs more to eat, then we will start her on the rice cereal at that point in time. Other than that, she looked really good. She has no problems and developmentally she is exactly where she needs to be for her age: Rolling over, smiling/laughing, very curious, etc.
She did get her routine immunizations today. She was so happy until the nurse stuck her and then the tears started flowing. Aric did a wonderful job of holding her during that process and within a few minutes after the shots were done she was fine. She is now in her swing taking a nice nap. A little infant Tylenol goes a long way!
Overall, I was pleased with the 4 month visit. As long as there are no problems then I am just fine. She will go back for her 6 month check up on May 27th. Maybe she will have grown more by then! :)

Love,
Emily

Random

So, I got a call from Savannah's doctor's office the other day and it was a nurse stating that Dr. Conroy, Savannah's regular pediatrican, wasn't going to be in on Friday March 20 for her 4 month check up, so would I be willing to re-schedule. I was fine with that but then she said we would have to see another doctor because Dr. Conroy was apparently going to be off for awhile. So, we are going to see Dr. White on Monday March 23. I am a little nervous going to see another doctor, but feel good about the doctor's in this group so maybe it won't be so bad.

We have a busy weekend planned. Kristina and Jeff's couple shower is this weekend and we have a service project in Prattville to help out with. Aric and I, volunteer with The Leader's Club through the Prattville YMCA. It is a great program that encourages teenagers to step up and become leaders. Will and Jennifer Barrett are the other advisors and are awesome. We also help to show the love of Christ through this program as well, so we have devotions and prayer time. The kids are great and they love Leader's Club. I am so lucky to be able to be a part of such a great opportunity!

Savannah Claire

3 months old

Savannah at 3 months

It has been an exciting few months since I wrote last.
Savannah is growing like a weed! She was on a four hour feeding schedule but decided about a month or so ago that she needed to eat every three hours. Sometimes she won't even last that long going only to two hours. I am ready for a four hour schedule, though! When we go for her 4 month check up on March 20th, I am going to consult with the doctor about the best way to change to a four hour feeding schedule, if at all possible. I am still nursing from time to time, every now and then we will give her a formula bottle, more so when we are out and about than at home. When she takes a bottle, she takes 8 ounces!!
Savannah is sleeping through the night well. We put her down about 9 or 10 and she will sleep until 6 AM. Early riser she is but it helps me to go ahead and start my day as well. :)
We went and got her 3 month pictures taken last week and they turned out so well. She is such a smiler!
As for Aric and I, we are doing well. Back in February we took a trip to Birmingham, just the two of us, and his parents watched Savannah. It was nice to have "us" time. Of course we missed Savannah like crazy but we knew she was in good hands so we were able to relax a lot while we were away.
I am thoroughly enjoying staying at home with Savannah. It is so nice to be able to be there for her and see all of her cute little milestones. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful husband who agreed whole heartedly that I should stay home with her.
Aric's job is going well. Even in these tough economic times, we have no worries with his job. His boss is wonderful and the company is doing very well. Again I will say we are very blessed to be where we are right now. We thank God every day for all that we have because without HIM, none of this would be possible.
