On the move! Sort of..........

For the past couple of weeks Savannah has shown ALOT of interest in trying to pull herself up on things. With the furniture we have in the living she still seems to be a little bit too short however, i held my fingers out for her and she was able to pull herself without me helping! It was very exciting. Since then, Aric and I have been working with her and she loves to do that now. Everytime she pulls up on her own she gets this Huge smile on her face like she knows she did something good. It is so cute!!

She is still not crawling yet but she loves to get on her hands and knees and rock back and forth. She is very curious and while sitting up she can easily move herself around in a circle. Even while having tummy time, she can turn around in a circle faster than you can say War Eagle! lol!! (ok, that was kind of cheesy)

For all of you wondering about teeth, she still doesn't have any yet. My mom doesn't remember when I got mine but Aric's mom said that Aric didn't get his until he was a year old. I have read that timing of teeting may be determined by heredity. So, I am keeping my eyes peeled for little white caps. As of yet, she is showing no signs, she is not fussy, no drool, not chewing on stuff. She puts toys in her mouth but doesn't seem to really chew .

Now for some updates on Aric and I. We have made a lot of progress on our master bath. For those of you who don't know we started this project before we got pregnant but then find out we were pregnant and had to put it on hold. We now have our shower installed!! We ordered it from Cherry Marble Group. It is very nice. I can't wait to use it. All the sheetrock is up so all we have left to do is paint, lay the tile, install the cabinet, and get the sink installed. Oh yeah and hook up all the light fixtures. It may sound like a lot but it we really have come a long way so it's nothing.
We are hoping to put our house on the market in about 18 months or so. We desperately want to move because the space we have here is limited and the school districts are horrible. I know Savannah is still awhile from that, schooling for her is very important to us and there is no way she will go to the school she is would be zoned for if we stayed here. We both know that getting the house ready to sell is going to be a challenge so we are going to patient and pray that things will work out so we are able to do what we need to do.

So I am slacking.....I do apologize

Hello all!
I just now realized that I had only 1 post for June. I am SO SORRY!
June was a busy month for the Lobenstein family. One of the major things we did in June was attend Blue Ridge Leaders' School in Black Mountain, NC. for 8 days. This trip was part of an annual Leaders' Club event. The Leaders' School is a week long event for teen leaders to sharpen their leadership skills with different classes and activities. For more info you can go to www.ymcabrls.org. It is a really neat opportunity for teenagers. I hope one day Savannah will be a young leader and be able to attend this wonderful school.

So being out of town for 8 days makes the laundry really pile up, so once we got back it was doing lots of laundry and keeping up the house. We celebrated Aric's father's birthday and my father's birthday only days apart. Also, this was Aric's first father's day! We kept it very low key but for his present I made him a photo book with pictures of him and Savannah. I believe he really liked it.

I know I have previously mentioned somewhat of a frustration with Savannah and baby food. Well, I believe all of our hard work as paid off, she now seems to like baby food. Even rice cereal!! I am thrilled!!! She is just doing great. Even if it seems like she doesn't like it by making a funny face, she doesn't spit it out like she used to, and will even continue to open her mouth for more! Patience really is key when trying baby food. Thanks to all my family and friends for the advice!! :)

So now July is here and it has been a pretty slow month. VERY NICE!!! Aric and I have visited a new Sunday school class and so far really like it. We have only been once but I am hoping we will continue to visit and hopefully find a class home. I am ready to get plugged back in again. With a church as big as Frazer it really makes a difference when you find a group to connect with.

Baby apple sauce..........

did not go so well for Savannah. The rice cereal she absolutely despised but the apple sauce was almost worse. We actually stopped for a few days giving her anything because we didn't want to discourage her completely from trying new stuff. On our way home the other night we stopped and got some pears. (we were going to try bananas but they were out.)
First try for the pears was a success! I was so excited! We tried them again the next day and she still seemed to like them. Both of these times we had been warming it up before giving it to her. I tried to give her the pears at room temp. the other evening and that did not work. I thought, oh know! What have we done!?? I microwaved the pears briefly and she ate them! Well, since it works for now, I am sticking with it. Eventually, I will probably have to break her of that, because sure enough, we will be somewhere and I won't be able to microwave her food and then she won't want to eat. I DO NOT want to start poor eating habits this early.

I am fighting some sort of bacterial infection and it is not fun. I went to the doctor today and he presribed me some antibiotics and a decongestant. I asked him why I seemed like I was getting more sick since I have had Savannah. I used to work in a hospital and NEVER got sick. He told me it was because of Savannah. I never put two and two together until today. Anytime Savannah has had a stuffy nose and congestion, it is only a matter of days before I get it. So, I am going to put my daughter in a bubble so she never gets sick again!! HAHAHAHAHA!! I know that is not the answer but I guess I will just have to step up my cleaning duties and if she gets sick again, I will double up on the hand sanitizer and try not to love on her too much. That's the only solution I can think of that will work. The hard part is not loving her, because she is just so darn cute!

We have a busy week ahead. Going out of town next week for the whole week!

Rice Cereal

We gave Savannah her first samplings of rice cereal Wednesday night. It did not go so well. She did not like it all. We would get a small spoonful in her mouth and it would take her a second to realize she didn't like then she would literally spit it out. We got a couple of bites in there that she swallowed but she made funny faces the whole time. We had a good time with it, though. We will continue the rice cereal until at least Monday. By then, we will move on to a fruit or vegetable. My expectations were not that high because I've heard that the first time you try to spoon feed it is usually not very successful. I think that helped me not get so frustrated when she didn't want it. Anyway, keep your fingers crossed for the next few things we try, hopefully our child will not be a picky eater!!

Exciting times are ahead and I am looking forward to all of them.

One more quick thing before I leave, today is some good friends' of ours, child's first birthday, so I would like to say Happy Birthday Ainsley!!!

Savannah's 6 month check up..........

went very well! Savannah is a very happy baby. I hate to brag, but wow, she is always smiling and laughing and now she loves to give hugs.

When it comes to shots, though, she is not so happy. She got the same round of shots today that she got at 2 and 4 months. The nurse is very good about being quick when giving the shots. Savannah shed a few tears but then she was fine and smiling within minutes! It was great! Of course, I remembered to give her some baby Tylenol before the doctor and 4 hours later I gave her a little bit more.

Now to the fun stuff. She weighs 17 lbs 3.1 oz. She is 24 3/4 in. long. The doctor was very pleased with her progress. She sits up without support very well, she "ga-ga's" a lot, she rolls over both ways and she can even hold her own bottle now! They grow so fast!

We finally got the green light for rice cereal. Yay! I have been wanting to do this since she was 4 months old but because I was still nursing, the doctor said she was getting all the nutrients she needed from the breastmilk. Well, I have stopped nursing and 6 months old is the starting age for baby foods so I am really excited! This is yet another milestone that is just an awesome experience for a parent.

I don't know if I have mentioned on here about making my own baby food purees; I am going to attempt that today so we will see how it goes. I've heard a few people say good things about it, so I figure I would give it a shot. I bought some red delicious apples so that will be my first puree. I will let y'all know how that goes.

I have to brag on my husband for a minute. When I was pregnant he came to every pre natal appointment from day one, except one, because he couldn't get away from work. But that appointment was so quick, he didn't miss anything. (it was one of those where you go in, you get weighed, you go back to the room and the doc comes in and asks how things are going, and as long as there are no problems you are free to go)

ANYWAY, since Savannah has been born, he has been to every doctor's visit with me and I LOVE IT! He is a wonderful father and an exceptional husband. He cares so much about me and Savannah, it's AWESOME! And you know what? He loves it! He loves to be there with us at the doctor. I know not everyone can get away from work or stay at home and that's fine, everyone has a different wonderful story. I am so blessed and have to give God all the glory for our blessings. THANK YOU LORD!

Okay, so the rest of my day is to do laundry, straighten up the house a bit, maybe go to the Y and then meet some friends of ours for dinner.

What a weekend it was!

Well, the end of May is surely here. We had a busy weekend but it was a blast! We attended to high school graduations. One Thursday night and one Friday night, it was nice. Saturday we spent all day at the lake. Aric's boss has a "Lake Day" every year for the employees of The Clement Group. It was a little chilly but we had fun. I saved the best for last........we finally went to the beach!! Yay! The weather Saturday morning was a little sketchy but it cleared up by mid day and the rest of the time we were there it was so nice.

This was Savannah's first trip to the beach and she loved it! We put her in the pool for the first time and she did great. She was all smiles the whole time! We also took her six month pictures while we were there. I will post some pics for you to enjoy. All in all, it was so nice to get away. We stay so busy that sometimes I don't think we ever get a chance to really relax.

Tomorrow is a big day. It is Savannah's six month check up. I will definitely update the blog after the doctor's visit.
